Taming the Lion by Jack Rushen. The play won the Beverly Hills Theatre Guild’s Julie Harris National play writing award in 2019. The play tells the story of #1 box office star William Haines who was under contract at MGM in the 1930’s and his battle with hard nosed studio boss Louis B. Mayer. Mr. Haines was gay and Mayer wanted to arrange a marriage for him, to a woman, and Haines rejected Mayer’s demands and went on to be a hugely successful interior decorator to the stars for over 50 years.

Theatre Forty is located at the Bevery Hills High School in the Reuben Cordova Theatre.

There is free covered parking conveniently located just outside the theatre. Enter the driveway at the intersection of Durant Drive and Moreno Drive., between Little Santa Monica Blvd. and Olympic, but closer to Little Santa Monica.
